Anxiety affects so many people. I’m very aware of how anxiety affects the brain and body and I used to have such severe anxiety attacks that I would break out in hives. I was so embarrassed that I would run out of the room mid conversation.
There was a point in my life where I even considered taking beta blockers because I felt as if I would never gain control my thoughts.
I ultimately decided to take a holistic approach and I have not had an anxiety attack in several years! I now have a number of tools to help with anxiety and I wanted to share one of my favorite techniques here.
Since anxiety is worry about the future, it’s actually possible to retrain your brain to automatically imagine the best-case scenario instead of the worst! If you think of your brain like a computer, then it’s easy to understand that we think certain thoughts and have beliefs about life based on programs we’ve learned throughout our lives and many times these programs were something we learned as a child.
My spiritual journey has guided me to dive deep into learning about my subconscious mind and how to reprogram myself using different hypnosis techniques. Hypnosis has received a bad reputation in the past (think stage hypnosis), but something I’ve learned is that all hypnosis is self-hypnosis and nobody can make you do anything you don’t want to do.
The truth is, we are all being programed on a daily basis so you might as well program your brain to think positive thoughts and your body to automatically do things that keep you healthy!
I highly recommend a daily meditation practice in order to practice slowing down your brain waves. In slower brain waves, your body is able to repair itself and you can think more clearly than when you’re living in high beta brain waves (which is where your brain is at when you’re feeling stressed.)
If you feel like you often imagine the worst-case scenario when thinking about your future, the anxiety release meditation I have included below will help train your brain to automatically imagine positive outcomes. You can do this meditation daily to begin programming your subconscious in a healthy way!
